The Central Electoral Commission refused Yabloko’s request to recount votes for parliamentary election of 2016 at a number of polling stations in the Republic of Tatarstan. According to Yabloko, the video recordings, which were made at some of the polling stations, give the grounds for the intervention of the Central Electoral Commission and the possibility of appealing to the law enforcement.

Representative of the indigenous small numbered peoples of Russia in the UN, public person Pavel Sulyandziga is applying for political asylum in the USA. A criminal case is likely to be faked against him in Russia. The Federal Security Service threatens his friends, family and colleagues.

Pavel Sulyandziga is Deputy Chair of the UN Working Group on the issue of human rights and transnational corporations and other business enterprises, one of the founders of the Indigenous Minor Peoples of the North, Siberia and Far East Association and Batani Development Foundation for Minor Peoples. In 2016 Pavel Sulyandziga participated in the State Duma elections as a Yabloko’s candidate.

According to Sergei Mitrokhin, Chair of the Moscow branch of YABLOKO, an unidentified person attacked YABLOKO activist Natalia Fyodorova by her house in Moscow and doused her with some chemical.

Party experts claim that the current strategy, which was adopted by the government in March, has a declarative character and contains no specific measures to promote gender equality. Yabloko will forward the alternative strategy, the bills developed by the party and the critique of the current strategy to the government by the end of spring.

On 26 April, on the 31st anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster, environmental activists held one-person pickets by the main office of the Russian atomic energy ministry – the Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation in Moscow. YABLOKO’s Green Russia faction organised commemorative events in two dozen cities of Russia: St. Petersburg, Petrozavodsk, Vladikavkaz, Voronezh, Yekaterinburg and others.

It is time to correct political errors

Everything is very serious with Crimea. Even France is discussing it a couple of days before its presidential elections. One of the top candidates, François Fillon, suggests holding an international conference on the Crimea. These proposals were expressed earlier: by British parliamentarians, by European politicians. In Russia, such proposals emerged in March 2014 (I wrote about this in Novaya Gazeta then).

Lev Shlosberg, MP from the YABLOKO party of the Pskov Region Legislative Assembl, applied to the Office of the Federal Antimonopoly Service for the Pskov region asking the Service to institute proceedings under Article 16 of the Federal Law “On Protection of Competition” (prohibition of restricting competition agreements or concerted actions) in respect of the Administration of Pskov, and two companies OOO Tekhnodor and OOO UDS Pskov. It is assumed that there was a preliminary cartel agreement between the city government and the two companies on granting the companies a victory at the tenders for maintenance of public roads in Pskov. On 20 April, activists of the Moscow branch of YABLOKO held a series of one-person pickets by the State Duma protesting against the draft law initiated by Moscow government on “housing renovation” which the State Duma had to consider in the first reading. The law deprives Muscovites of their private property right, as well as violates all the city developing, sanitary and environmental norms.
