YABLOKO to commemorate victims of the Great Terror
Press release, 17.10.2016
On October 29, YABLOKO leaders and activists will participate in a memorial action commemorating victims of political reprisals, who were executed under Joseph Stalin. The ceremony is conducted by the Memorial human rights group annually.
The activists will read the names of the victims out loud and light candles by the Solovetsky Stone. YABLOKO’s activists will join the action at 1:00 p.m.
The action takes place annually on the threshold of October 30, the Day of Political Prisoners, established in 1974 by the Soviet political prisoners who conducted hunger strikes and lit candles in memory of the victims on that day.
