Yugenia Dillendorf: only climate does not change here
Yugenia Dillendorf’s blog in the LiveJournal , 10.09.2013
Only climate does not change in our country, that is why I believe that a day will come sometime, and Russian journalists will apologize for their work under Boris Yeltsin (since 1996) [for signing praises to Boris Yeltsin and his fraudulent elections], and Vladimir Putin, as the Chile judicial community has apologized for their actions under Pinochet .
In their collective request for a pardon from the society they will perhaps say that in those days journalists ceased looking for the truth and telling it to people, that they are sorry about their lies and defamation, cynicism and stupidity, as well as their political favoritism that broke many hopes and destinies of many people.
These journalists will repent for both the groups: the pro-Kremlin and the anti-Kremlin (although for me the second is even worse, as being an opposition it should have led the way).
By the way [Russian] journalists almost never criticize each other and are the only branch of power which is completely beyond criticism. Therefore sobering will not come soon. It is very difficult for a decent person, a journalist, who values the basic precepts of the profession, to work in a world where live broadcasts and newspapers pages represent a freely convertible currency only. They need to have, like YABLOKO activists, nerves of steel and believe in freedom and justice.
