Tatyana Nagibina, Chair of the Omsk Yabloko, took part in public hearings on the construction of a delayed coking unit on the territory of the North-West industrial hub. The hearings were initiated by AO Gazpromneft-ONPZ. There were many silent students among the participants in the public hearings.
During the public hearings, project documentation was briefly presented. Representatives of the company explained that the project aimed to modernise the installation, which had been operating since the 1970s with the launch of the new installation scheduled for the first quarter of 2021.
According to the presentation of the project, the impact zone on the Omsk air, taking into account the construction of the ultrasonic testing complex and the decommissioning of some of the existing installations, should not change.

Tatyana Nagibina noted that the public failed to get an answer to a question about a significant reduction of air pollution.
“The only thing that will happen is the replacement of old equipment with new, and the environmental load, according to the speakers, may decrease, but not significantly. For example, if today 33,000 tons are thrown out into the air, but 31,000 tons are projected for in 2021. And if you need jobs, then there will be 49 of them on the new installation, however, they did not answer how many jobs were on the old installation,” Nagibina stressed.
It should be noted that in 2017, air pollution in Omsk exceeded the norm by 400 times. The Omsk branch of Yabloko regularly holds protests against air pollution, in addition, the leader of the regional branch Tatyana Nagibina is the author of the petition “We want to breathe!”
In October, Omsk residents took part in one more protest rally against air pollution, which was organised with the support of Tatyana Nagibina, Chair of the party’s regional branch. The leader of the Omsk Yabloko published investigations on the construction of a phenol plant in Omsk, and party members also inspected the industrial area of the city.
