Colleagues of Larissa Yudina, members of the Kalmyk branch of Yabloko held a traditional memorial dinner on the anniversary of the murder of Larissa Yudina, opposition journalist, human rights activist, politician and Co-Chair of the Yabloko branch in Kalmykia.
Larissa Yudina, Soviet and Russian journalist, editor-in-chief of the newspapers Sovetskaya Kalmykia, and then Sovetskaya Kalmykia Today, who exposed corruption on the top of the Republic of Kalmykia, a politician, Co-Chair of the Kalmyk regional branch of the Yabloko party, was brutally murdered on June 7, 1998. The Supreme Court of the Republic of Kalmykia found that Sergei Vaskin, ex-assistant to then President of Kalmykia Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, and Vladimir Shanukov were guilty of the murder. However, the person who ordered this crime has never been punished.
