The Tula branch of Yabloko submitted its candidates to 11 territorial electoral commissions of the region
Press Release, 27.11.2020
The Tula branch of Yabloko submitted candidacies of the party representiatives to the key eleven territorial electoral commissions of the region. The respective electoral commissions cover 75 per cent of the population of the Tula region. Within a month, the regional electoral commission should complete the formation of electoral commissions.
“We understand very well that the strategy of those people who form the internal policy in our region is to keep the principled defenders of fair elections out of the electoral commissions. These same people did not let any of our people to the territorial electoral commissions five years ago, despite the fact that many of them had worked in these commissions for ten years or more,” Vladimir Dorokhov, Chairman of the Tula branch of Yabloko, said.
“If they repeat the case and Yabloko is again left without representation in the territorial electoral commissions, this will mean that the authorities are trying to close the upcoming elections from independent eyes. And this, in turn, means that, they no longer count on anything except fraud and ballot-stuffing,” Vladimir Dorokhov added.
It should be noted that, according to the federal legislation, at least half of the composition of electoral commissions must be formed at the suggestion of political parties. However, if the proposals are sent by parties represented in the federal and regional parliaments, the Electoral Commission of the Tula Region is obliged to appoint to their representatives to the territorial electoral commissions, and representatives from all other parties are appointed at the discretion of the commission.
