Oleg Rodin, Chairman of the Nizhny Novgorod branch of Yabloko, received an answer to his appeal to the Central Electoral Commission about non-recognition of the results of the elections to the City Duma of Nizhny Novgorod. It follows from the answer the Central Electoral Commission that the appeal was forwarded for consideration to the Electoral Commission of the Nizhny Novgorod Region. The Central Electoral Commission indicated that it intends to keep under control the consideration of this issue in the regional electoral commission.

Activists of the Nizhny Novgorod “Yabloko” emphasise that they do not recognise the results of the past elections of deputies of the City Duma of the city of Nizhny Novgorod of the seventh convocation. Yabloko demands to cancel the decision of the city electoral commission on the recognition of the election results and hold repeated elections. Also the regional branch of Yabloko demands to dismiss Marina Mamonova, Chairman of the city electoral commission, from her post together with the current members of the electoral commission and to form a new electoral commission. Yabloko activists demand to amend the law of the Nizhny Novgorod region No. 108-З “On the election of deputies of the representative bodies of municipalities in the Nizhny Novgorod region” and establish the procedure for early voting exclusively in the premises of district and / or territorial electoral commissions.”

It should be noted that the elections of deputies of the Nizhny Novgorod City Duma took place on 13 September. The elections were marked by fraud with ballots and pressure on candidates and observers. There were six candidates from Yabloko. Electoral commissions refused to register in the elections a number of candidates from the party, including the Chairman of the regional branch of the party Oleg Rodin, and Deputy Chairman Alexei Sadomovsky.
