Sergei Mitrokhin meets with representatives of the Danish Helsinki Committee

Wednesday, July 22, YABLOKO leader Sergei Mitrokhin met in YABLOKO’s office with a group of human rights defenders from the Danish Helsinki Committee led by Carl Eric Foverskov. Olga Radayeva, YABLOKO International Secretary, also took part in the meeting.
The guests from Denmark spoke about their work in Denmark and other EU countries.
YABLOKO leader told them about the party participation in the upcoming regional elections and the difficulties in conducting election campaigns: the virtual absence of the freedom of speech, inability to get time on the main television channels and place streets billboards of opposition candidates.
Also, Sergei Mitrokhin spoke about political reprisals against the opposition and YABLOKO members in the Russian regions: the situation in Karelia, the case of environmentalist Evgeny Vitishko who opposed the seizure of public lands in the Krasnodar Territory.
