Renowned film director Alexander Sokurov put his signature to support Grigory Yavlinsky in the presidential race

This morning Boris Vishnevsky, the head of Yabloko’s faction in the St. Petersburg Legislative Assembly, had a meeting with a renowned film director Alexander Sokurov.
The famous film director put a signature in support of Grigory Yavlinsky’s nomination for the post of the President of the Russian Federation. [Yabloko began collecting signatures that are required to register Grigory Yavlinsky as a presidential candidate. The party has to collect 105,000 signature until 31 January 2018.]
Sokurov also said that he would vote for Yavlinsky in March 2018. Boris Vishnevsky thanked the film director and promised to justify his confidence.
On 27 December, a renowned Russian artist and Honorary Citizen of St. Petersburg Oleg Basilashvili supported Grigory Yavlinsky in the presidential election.
The collection of signatures in support of Grigory Yavlisnky’s candidacy is taking place in 79 regions of Russia. Yavlinsky must bring not less than 105,000 signatures to the Central Electoral Commission until 31 January. But the candidate cannot collect more than 2,500 in one region.
Alexander Sokurov is a renowned Russian film director. In 1995 the European Film Academy put him on the list of best film directors. In 2017 Sokurov was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his outstanding work in the field of directing, dramaturgy and cinematography.
In 2016 Alexander Sokurov headed Yabloko’s list of candidates in St. Petersburg for the State Duma elections.
