Statement by Grigory Yavlinsky and Alexei Yablokov, 27.12.2016
The joint statement by Grigory Yavlinsky and Alexei Yablokov was published in late December 2016. Two weeks later Alexei V. Yablokov passed away. This crucial document, which proposes the ways to reduce morbidity and mortality in Russia, has turned out to be the political heritage of environmental scientist Alexei Yablokov.

The Investigative Committee’s branch in the Republic of Karelia responded to the inquiry of Lev Shglosberg, deputy of the Pskov Region Legislative Assembly (YABLOKO’s faction), demanding to investigate the information on violence, including tortures and murder threats, against dissident Ildar Dadin by the staff and administration of the Prison Colony No. 7 in the town of Segezha [near the Finnish border]. Assessing the eight years of Barack Obama’s presidency, we have to speak more about the period his presidency feel onto, rather than him. The fact that a black politician became US President seemed to open a new era in the US and even the world history considering the position of the United States in the modern world. Today we can see increasingly more qualitative shifts, but not all of them are perceived positively. The world becomes unstable and hardly predictable. All the vectors of development which until recently have seemed natural and clear, are at least questioned today. All attempts to give trustworthy medium-term forecasts, find reliable and effective economic management tools and create a predictable world order based on American leadership after the “Cold War” turned out unsuccessful at the close of the 20th century. The Central Election Commission of Russia (CEC) has decided to check the information on fraud in the parliamentary elections in Tatarstan only after YABLOKO challenged the inaction of the CEC in the Supreme Court of Russia. Today, after only a few days after the filing of YABLOKO’s claim, the CEC held a session of the working group, where Ella Pamfilova, head of the Central Electoral Commission, promised to conduct an inspection of the evidence of fraud submitted by YABLOKO. On Friday the State Duma is going to adopt in second reading the bill on decriminalisation of domestic violence. This law marks a return to the “patriarchal despotism” and a permit to act in family in accordance with the slogan ” beating your wife is a sign of love”. Read more »

Tomorrow the State Duma will consider in second reading a bill on decriminalisation of domestic violence. The YABLOKO party – the only party in the country with a gender organisation – demands that the Duma should turn down the law and to adopt a special law on liability for domestic violence, as well as create an efficient state mechanism for the prevention of domestic violence, assistance and rehabilitation of victims.

The State Duma passed in the first reading the Law on decriminalization of domestic violence. There is no doubt that this dangerous law will be adopted. This means that the person beating his family members resulting in light injuries will not be charged with a criminal offense, but only administrative proceedings will be instituted against him.
