So, Donald Trump was elected President of the USA. What will happen now? Nobody knows. Even Trump himself does not know.
As for Russia, it was clear long before the election day that a bare victory of any candidate would not fundamentally change the US-Russia relations. The policy of the Russian government led Russia to a deadlock and brought it to isolation. And as long as these policies do not change, the tension in Russia’s relations with the United States will be maintained. The reasoning by our domestic TV propaganda faces about Trump’s victory has nothing to do with concern about Russia’s interests, they are merely rejoicing at the misfortune of others: “my neighbor’s cow has died, it is a trifle, but a very pleasant trifle”. Statement by the Voronezh branch of YABLOKO, 14.11.2016
The regional branch of the YABLOKO party considers the initiative of the Voronezh City Duma deputies on abolition of the direct mayoral election in the city of Voronezh another step aimed at the destruction of the democratic institutions and forming a hard-line authoritarian and bureaucratic system of government in Russia. On 14 November at 6 a.m., police arrested ten families (including children) of the activists defending Torfyanka Park in North-East Moscow form expropriation by the Russian Orthodox Church. Sergei Mitrokhin, leader of the Moscow branch of YABLOKO, has forwarded inquiries to Alexander Drymanov, head of the Moscow department of the Investigative Committee of the RF, Oleg Baranov, head of the Moscow interior, and Public Prosecutor Vladimir Churikov, asking them to explain where the detained were taken and the reason of the arrests. Today at 6 a.m., riot police under the supervision of the Federal Security Service broke into the apartments of civil activists defending Torfyanka Park [located in North-East of Moscow and virtually expropriated by the Russian Orthodox Church despite loud protests by local residents] and arrested ten families. Those who refused to open the doors found their doors broken. [In violation of the law] the police gave no explanations, orders, etc. Read more »
On 10 November, public hearings held in the Yaroslavsky district, Moscow, demonstrated that residents rejected he project of building up the territory adjacent to Losiniy Ostrov (the “moose island”), a national park in the north-east of Moscow. On Tuesday, the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) in Strasburg unveiled its decision on the complaint of the Karelian branch of the YABLOKO party and several party representatives acknowledging violation of their rights to free election due to the fact that their and the party registration in the election to the Legislative Assembly of the Republic of Karelia in 2006 was cancelled. The applicants complained that they had been arbitrarily excluded from participation in the election. Read more »
On 7 November, Valery Borschyov, member of the Moscow Public Monitoring Commission, member of the Federal Political Committee of the YABLOKO party and member of the Moscow Helsinki Group, and other human rights activists met with Ildar Dadin, tortured civil activist, in the Segezha penal colony. On 5 November, activists of the Moscow Youth YABLOKO participated in the All-Russian rally against cruelty to animals organised by the Zoopomosch (Zoo Aid) group for protection of animals. The action as orgnised in protest to abuse of animals that became known after young people in Khabarovsk videoed their torturing and killing animals.
The Novgorod Region Court allowed the claim of the Novgorod branch of YABLOKO on recognition the results of the election to the Novgorod Regional Duma void to proceed. Read more »

On 4 November, police detained eight people during single-person picketing by Penal Colony No 7 in Segezha, notoriously famous for torturing civil activist Ildar Dadin. Activists of St. Petersburg Youth YABLOKO Ilya Smirnov and Konstantin Pokhilchuk were among the detained. Read more »
On 7 November, YABLOKO activists held a traditional action of memory of defenders of democratic Russia – cadets and officers who made armed resistance to the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917. The action was attended by Sergei Mitrokhin, leader of the Moscow branch of YABLOKO. Read more »
The campaign on banning abortions which started and then subsided in 2011 has resumed with renewed vigor. A group of senators, including Elena Mizulina, Ekaterina Lakhova and Elena Afanasyeva introduced amendments to the law “On Circulation of Pharmaceuticals” prohibiting retail sale of medicinal products intended for medical termination of pregnancy. Collections of signatures for a ban on abortion began on the portal of the Russian Public Initiative. Patriarch [of the Russian Orthodox Church] Kirill who repeatedly advocated the removal of abortion from the Compulsory Medical Insurance has put his signature too. A rally for a ban on abortion in Moscow organised by public movements Pro Life, Orthodox Volunteers, Sorok Sorokov, and Women for Life launched a public campaign for collection of signatures for a ban on abortion. The requirements for a ban on abortion relate even to the cases of rape or incurable diseases of the fetus. Read more »
On 1 November. Nikolai Kavkazsky, Chairman of the Moscow Youth YABLOKO, Maria Efimova, Deputy Chair, and Nikita Arkin, member of the Regional Council of the organisation, participated in pickets in support of the convicted and tortured dissident Ildar Dadin. The action was held by the Federal Penitentiary Service.

Summing up the results of the election campaign to the State Duma was the key issue of the meeting of the Federal Bureau of the YABLOKO party held in Moscow on 28 October. YABLOKO Chair Emilia Slabunova spoke about the objective and subjective reasons of the failure to overcome the five per cent threashold to the parliament, and the party founder Grigory Yavlinsky spoke about another, higher, goal than the seats in the State Duma – telling the truth to the people.
It was not so long ago. In our country. This happened to our grandfathers and great-grandfathers. Millions of innocent people fell victims of political terror on the part of their own state. The Bolshevik system was protecting itself destroying the brightest, bravest and most educated, the best people of the country. However, to this day, all these crimes have not been recognised as such politically, the state have not given its assessment to Bolshevism and Stalinism and corresponding conclusions have not been made. On the contrary, the atmosphere of arbitrary rule on the part of the state and the risk of recurrence of political reprisals are becoming more pronounced. The murders of [oppositional politician] Boris Nemtsov and [journalist and human rights activist] Anna Politkovskaya are another proof of this.Read more »
