Press release, September 12, 2013
Anatoly Glazunov, re-elected by a margin of one vote head of the Dobrovsky district of the Lipetsk region, has been threatening bodily harm to his competitor from the YABLOKO party Dmitry Pashinov and his family. It should be noted that all Pashinov’s relatives have already been sacked long before the voting day.
Pashinov says that at present all who participated in the elections of September 8 from the opposition parties are losing their jobs. Pashinov and his father received threats during campaigning from Nikolai Martynov, Glazunov’s driver and election agent. Pashinov then reported the threats to the police.
Also Martynov tried to knock Pashinov down with a loader, however, he was not punished then. Also an unidentified person tried to shot Pashinov because of his work in protection of human rights, the gunman was never found.
Despite such a situation Dmitry Pashinov insists on annulment on of the election results considering them unfair, as bribery and intimidation began during the election campaign.
Present district head and United Russia member Glazunov won with 30.44 per cent in the vote. However, his other rival Alexander Gritsaenko from the Rodina (Motherland) party came second with only one vote less (30.43 per cent). Outraged voters came to a spontaneous rally.
