Alexander Gnezdilov to give a second lecture on the history of liberalism
Yabloko Deputy Chair Alexander Gnezdilov will deliver a second lecture of the series “The secret history of liberalism in Russia”. The lecture will be dedicated to the developments of 1730. It will take place on 16th October at 20:00.
A renowned philosopher and politician Pyotr Struve wrote in his book “From Within” (“Из глубины”) that the preconditions for the revolution of 1917 were formed in 1730 – “The future of Russia’s political development was defined by the developments of 1730”.
Furthermore, according to Alexander Kizevetter, a member of the State Duma (1907) and a student of a famous historian Vasily Kluchevsky, the history of liberalism in Russia began to change from the time when first groups appeared that matched their individual interests against the power of the state. That happened between the end of the first and beginning of the second quarter of the 18th century. The society altered and the system where individualism was suppressed by the statehood received the first blow.
Alexander Gnezdilov will speak about these unique documents.
