April 10 marks the 70th anniversary of Grigory Yavlinsky, the founder of Yabloko, and head of the Federal Political Committee of Yabloko. Yabloko Chairman Nikolai Rybakov congratulates Grigory Yavlinsky on his anniversary on behalf of all Yabloko members:

A world-famous economist whose books are published abroad – this is Grigory Yavlinsky.
The one who personally freed the captured Russian soldiers in Grozny, Chechnya, and the hostages in the Dubrovka Moscow theatre – this is Grigory Yavlinsky.
A politician who always puts values and principles above political gain – this is Grigory Yavlinsky.
For many years, together with you, we have been solving the most difficult task – to create in Russia a modern democratic party of the European type, representing the interests of those who strive for freedom and justice, democracy and political competition, a party founded on unwavering respect for a person and his/her needs.
Part of what you have been speaking and writing about ran against a wall of misunderstanding and rejection. But you have always turned out to be right, including in your forecasts of the development of the situation around Ukraine. Now even those who did not want to listen to you then have to admit that you were right.
Your courage and steadfastness, fidelity to principles and a clear-cut moral stance serve as an example for us and give us strength.
We wish you health, strength, wellbeing to your loved ones and the realisation of your aspirations.
