Press Release,04.08.2014
Youth YABLOKO conducted picketing against the use of the administrative recourse at the Moscow City Duma elections. YABLOKO candidates for the Moscow City Duma deputies Nikalai Kavkazsky and Igor Nikolayev participated in the action.
“The unknown “self-nominated candidates” who managed to collect more than 5000 signatures of the citizens, participation of the district councils in promoting the winners of the so called “primaries”, the attempts of the Moscow City Electoral Commission to equate election campaigning with rallies is the use of the administrative resource. The authorities do it to promote their candidates”, said the activists.
The activists held placards which said “Moscow City Electoral Commission, first of all study the law then write letters”, “Independent and honest candidates don’t use the service of district councils”, “Collection of 5000 signatures without a couple of weeks?! Why not 25000?”, “Don’t let them still your vote, observe the elections”, “Moscow City Duma will have meetings once a month! Why not once a year?”
The passersby supported the activists and approved of the action. The activists called them to become election observers.
