On Thursday, 9 July, representatives of the Yabloko party authorised by the Yabloko Congress submitted documents to the St.Petersburg City Electoral Commission for certification of the list of candidates for the Legislative Assembly of St.Petersburg. The materials were submitted in boxes bearing the party’s logo and its election campaign slogan, “For Peace and Freedom! For a Life Without Fear!”
The delegation was led by Dmitry Anisimov, Viktoria Razina and Yegor Karpenkov, leaders of Yabloko’s citywide list. They were joined in support by Alexander Shishlov, Coordinator of the party’s Federal Political Committee, Olga Pokrovskaya, Chair of the Federal Party Arbitration Committee, and other candidates and members of St.Petersburg Yabloko.
Dmitry Anisimov, Deputy Chairman of St Petersburg Yabloko and a Legislative Assembly deputy, noted that the party’s lawyers had carried out extensive and painstaking work preparing the documents.
“Our lawyers carefully checked and rechecked every document to rule out even the slightest legal risks. We hope the City Electoral Commission will approach the registration professionally and ensure genuine equality among the participants in the elections,” he said.
Dmitry Anisimov also highlighted the archaic nature of the procedure. At the final stage of preparing the documents alone, six packs of 500 sheets of paper had been used for a single electoral association in a single region. The system still requires the submission of data and copies on paper though those could easily be obtained through inter-agency data exchange.
“More than ten years ago, St.Petersburg Yabloko proposed that nomination documents be submitted through the state e-services centres or the Gosuslugi portal. Unfortunately, even the collection of signatures via the portal is barely used in St.Petersburg. Digitalisation is not just about protecting forests, it also genuinely eases candidates’ work and provides additional protection against fraud. We will be paying attention to this issue in the next convocation,” Dmitry Anisimov said.
On 27 June, Yabloko’s Federal Congress approved the nomination of candidates for St.Petersburg’s single-mandate constituencies in the elections to the 8th convocation of the Legislative Assembly, due to be held on 18–20 September 2026. A further 62 candidates were included in 25 regional groups.
It should be noted that Yabloko has assembled a young line-up of contenders for deputy mandates — the average age of the candidates heading the citywide list is 36.
We are publishing the full list of candidates for the Legislative Assembly of St.Petersburg nominated under the single electoral district and single-mandate constituencies.
