On the 70th anniversary of murdered Yabloko MP and journalist Yury Shchekochikhin Yabloko will conduct a Zoom-marathon: we will read his texts live on-line

On June 9, 2020, journalist and politician Yury Shchekochikhin would have turned 70. Yury Shchekochikhin was an MP of the Yabloko faction in the State Duma. He was also renowned in Russia as a pillar of Russian investigative journalism. He died on July 3, 2003, due to poisoning. Those who committed and ordered this crime have never been found. On his birthday, the Yabloko party, of which Yury Shchekochikhin was a member, organises a Zoom marathon: everyone who knew and loved Shchekochikhin will read excerpts from his texts.
The marathon will be broadcast on the Yabloko party’s Youtube channel, as well as on the party’s Facebook page. The anchors will be journalist Nadezhda Azhgikhina, the widow of Yuri Shchekochikhin, and Chairman of the Yabloko party Nikolai Rybakov.
Journalists Dmitry Muratov, Yuri Rost, Victoria Ivleva, Alla Bossart, Boris Minayev, Marina Adamovich (USA), Malcolm Dixelius (Sweden), Yelena Zagrevskaya (Great Britain), writers Konstantin Azadovsky, Alexandra Sviridova (USA), Galina Arapova, Director of the Centre for the Protection of Media Rights, politicians Grigory Yavlinsky and Galina Mikhaleva, theatre director Irina Mikheyshina and artists of the Sketches in Space theater and others have already announced their participation in the marathon
