At 10:00 (Moscow time) a two-day Congress of the Yabloko party will begin, the Congress will elect new executive bodies of the party for the next four years.

The Congress will be opened by political reports from Yabloko leaders – party Сhairman Nikolai Rybakov and head of the Federal Political Committee Grigory Yavlinsky. The reports will be streamed on Yabloko’s Youtube channel.

The main part of the Congress, including the election of the executive bodies of the party, will be held behind closed doors, but you will be able to follow what is happening at the congress via text broadcast in the Telegram channel @YablokoCongress

On 9 December, the Congress will elect the party Chairman and his deputies, and on 10 December, members of the Federal Political Committee and the Bureau, the collective bodies of the party.

According to the new version of the party By-Laws, this year all Yabloko members could take part in the nomination of candidates for the post of the Yabloko Chair. Based on the results of the rating voting by the Federal Political Committee members, delegates to the party congress will have to choose the party Chairperson from the following four candidates: Nikolai Rybakov, current Yabloko Chairman (since 2019); Maxim Kruglov, head of the Yabloko faction in the Moscow City Duma; Anna Cherepanova, deputy of the City Duma of Veliky Novgorod and Chair of the Novgorod regional branch of the party; and Alexander Yefimov, member of the Federal Bureau of the party, the Volgograd regional branch.

The executive bodies of the party are elected for a four year term. According to the party By-Laws, the same person cannot lead the party for more than two terms. The post of party Chairman has been held by Nikolai Rybakov since 2019. In 2015-2019, the party was led by Emilia Slabunova, and by Sergei Mitrokhin in 2008-2015. From 2001, when Yabloko was transformed from an association into a political party, and until 2008, the Chairman of the party was Grigory Yavlinsky.
