Activists of the VITA animal rights protection group and the Committee for civil rights joined the action.
The activits held the placards which said “Stop cutting the budget for pounds management”, “We demand to toughen criminal responsibily for doghunters”, “Violence against animals is a way to dehumanization of society” and also handed out the leaflets with recommendations how to save a pet poisoned by doghunters.
Earlier Youth Yabloko’s Nikolai Kavkazsky and Maria Yefimova sent an open letter to deputy of the State Duma Joseph Kobzon who had called for shooting stray dogs [Kobzon is on the EU sanction list]. The activists called the deputy to solve the issue of stray animals on the lagislative level instead of calling for reprisals. They also invited him to join their street action. However, he didn’t react to the invitation.
