YABLOKO’s Timur Kaushev found dead in Nalchik
Candidate for the Kabardino-Balkariya parliament deputy and YABLOKO member Timur Kaushev was found dead in the suburbs of Nalchik today. The details of the crime are not identified.
YABLOKO member and journalist Timur Kaushev was 26 years old. He defended human rights and cooperated with “Kavkazsky uzel”, “Kavkazskaya politika” and other titles.
“Timur was a frank and open-minded person. He never made compromises when defending justice. We hoped he would head the human rights defenders’ faction of YABLOKO. It’s a great loss to YABLOKO and the Republic of Kabardino-Balakariya on the whole”, said Chair of the local YABLOKO branch Khakim Kuchmezov.
“Public figures and journalists of the North Caucasus haven’t been feeling safe for a long time. The authorities should do everything possible to investigate the crime. I bewail the death of Timur together with his family and friends”, said YABLOKO leader Sergei Mitrokhin.
Timur Kuashev disappeared last night. He called his mother at 09:20 pm for the last time. When his mother returned home she discovered Timur was gone. His clothes, documents and mobile phone weren’t missing. Timur was found dead by Federal Rescue Service workers today.
