YABLOKO’s member Olga Noskovets was unlawfully fined for resisting police
Press Release, 26.02.2014
Yesterday the Khostinsky Regional court of Sochi fined YABLOKO’s member Olga Noskovets under the article 19.3 of the Administrative Code supposedly for disobedience to the legitimate demands of police officers.
Olga Noskovets and a civil activist David Khakim were detained several hours before the beginning of the Olympic Games closing ceremony and spent the night in the temporary detention facility.
The police couldn’t explain the reason for the detention. The formal reason was resistance to police during the personal identity verification. Police officers demanded Noskovets’ passport at a bus stop claiming she had answered to some APB. Khakim’s documents were checked as he didn’t have a Fan Passport for Sochi Visitors.
On February 25, the court in Sochi found David Khakim guilty and arrested him for four days and the same day the court imposed a fine of one hundred roubles on Olga Noskovets.
The activists have no doubt that the case was politically motivated. The authorities jailed the activists during the Olympics closing ceremony so that they wouldn’t be able to conduct an action of protest against the event. What is more, the reason of the arrest and the further sentence is participation in the making of Pussy riot’s music video.
