Yabloko’s Alexei Yetmanov on the pension reform
Yabloko’s FB page, 25.06.2018
As an alternative to the Putin-Medvedev’s pension reform, Yabloko proposes to transfer dividends of state corporations to the pension fund. And Alexei Yetmanov, founder of the most successful independent trade union of Russia and member of the Yabloko party voiced another civilised recipe:
– The real way out of this situation is to create real strong trade unions that exist in all the developed countries where there is a civil society. Trade unions together with employers, including such corporations as, for example, Ford or GM, jointly form pension funds. As a result, people get really decent pensions. And our government simply gets its hand in the citizens’ pockets, although it would be better to deal with, say, the problem of ‘shadow’ employers. And one more thing: simply look what [expensive] office buildings the Pension Fund of Russia has built [for its needs] – they cost billions of roubles! Now the trade union movement creates headquarters, including those in the regions, so that to organise a protest against the [government’s] pension reform. Yabloko will actively participate in this.
By now almost 2.5 million citizens have put their signatures under the Petition of the Confederation of Labour against the increase in the retirement age. Yabloko calls everyone to sign the petition:
