Yabloko is once again joining the annual campaign from the Nochlezhka charity organisation helping homeless people, which, on New Year’s Eve, collects the most essential food-stuffs and necessities for homeless living in Moscow and St. Petersburg. The campaign will last from 4 December through to 20 December.
In October 2024, Nochlezhka published data on the mortality rate of homeless people in the regions of Russia. In total, according to the data, 57,500 homeless people died in 2023, of which 38,000 deaths happened in large cities. At the same time, homeless people die much earlier and most do not live until their retirement age. The median age of death of a homeless person is 53,7, i.e., 19.4 years younger than that of the Russian population in general.
We call on members and supporters of our party, as well as anyone who cares about the fate of the homeless, to bring something from the list of necessary products published by Nochlezhka (you can read it here) to our offices in Moscow and St.Petersburg by 20 December, 2024.
After 20 December, our representatives will take all the collected goods to Nochlezhka, where volunteers will pack all the collected foodstuffs and necessities into gift sets, and they will distribute them to homeless people on the eve of the New Year.
Collection locations:
In Moscow: Pyatnitskaya 31, building 2 (Mon-Fri from 11:00 to 19:00)
In St. Petersburg: Shpalernaya 13 (On 5-6, 9-10, and 17-18 December from 17:00 to 20:00).
