Yabloko will launch a rally in memory of the Chernobyl tragedy in Moscow and the regions

On 26 April, turns 33 years since one of the largest disasters in the history of the nuclear industry – the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. About 400 million people worldwide were exposed to radiation. According to experts, up to 830,000 people were directly or indirectly involved in liquidation of the consequences of the accident. Now, 33 years later, about 5 million people live in infected areas. On this day, the Green Russia Faction of the Yabloko party holds its annual All-Russian action in memory of the Chernobyl tragedy, the party members will come out on pickets in Moscow and Russian regions.
In Moscow, Yabloko activists will hold a picket in front of the Russian Federal Atomic Energy Agency (Rosatom) at Bolshaya Ordynka, 24. The picketing starts at 14:00.
In Chelyabinsk there will be a picket in the Andrievsky park (intersection of Vorovskogo, Engels and Khudyakovo streets) from 14:30 to 15:30. The participants of the action will be folding paper cranes (origami), symbolising a world without nuclear weapons and dangerous nuclear technologies. Cranes will subsequently be sent to the President of Russia with a demand to take into account the opinion of residents of the Chelyabinsk Region.
In Rostov-on-Don a picket will be held at the address: Vyatka, 51. The action will begin at 18:00.
In Astrakhan, a memorial picket will be held at the monument to the heroes of Chernobyl in the Avenue of Chernobyl Victims. The action will begin at 11:00.
On 27 April, a picket of memory of Chernobyl will take place in Novosibirsk at the address: Ordzhonikidze Street, 18. The action will be held from 12:00 to 13:00. On 26 April, Novosibirsk Yabloko party members will lay flowers in the Narym Garden at 12:00.
In Krasnodar, a picket will be held by the memorial to Chernobyl victims of Kuban. The action will begin at 17:00.
The Volgograd branch of Yabloko held an action on 15 April. One-person pickets under the slogans “Radiation or Life?”, “Plant a Forest Instead of a Nuclear Power Plant!”, “Remember?! Will Not Repeat?!” took place in Krasnoarmeysky and Kirovsky districts of the city.
In addition, commemorative actions will also be held in Vologda, Voronezh, Karelia, the Moscow Region, St. Petersburg and Tver on 26 April.
