The Omsk branch of the Yabloko party took part in the rally for the resignation of the Russian government. The rally was held on 8 July. Despite the fact that the Omsk City Hall tried to hinder holding of the rally, all the participants of the action were able to express their attitude to the ongoing reforms in the country.
The action held on the rally of 1 July, the participants of the latter opposed the government’s raising the retirement age. According to Tatyana Nagibina, head of the Omsk branch of the Yabloko party, 10,060 signatures against the scandalous government’s bill were collected at the first rally, and promised that all the signatures would reach the Russian President.

Nagibina also innumerated the regions where regional MPs remained silent and did not express their opinions on the pension reform. These are the Republic of Khakassia, the Novosibirsk Region, the Krasnodar Territory, the Orel Region and the Omsk Region.
Boris Melnikov, head of the movement “Omsk: the Affordable Environment” and Chairman of the Social Democratic faction of the Omsk branch of Yabloko, was also very critical of the reform. In his speech he mentioned not only the leaders of the country and deputies of the State Duma, but also Omsk senators Victor Nazarov and Yelena Mizulina.

“Officially 43 billion roubles are allotted to the maintenance of the Russian President in the federal budget. This means 3.5 Omsk budgets. And they tell us that there is no money [in Russia]. Deputies raise their salaries. I propose that both Medvedev and Putin, who supports his Prime Minister, both the State Duma and the Federation Council, are dismissed. Nazarov and Mizulina are a shame of the Omsk region, and they sit in the Federation Council,” Melnikov said.
Despite the 30-degree heat, about 2,000 people took part in the rally.
