Yabloko to hold an all-Russian conference on nuclear risks on the 38th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster

On 24 April, Yabloko will hold an all-Russian conference “Nuclear Technologies and Nuclear Risks in the Modern World”. The event will take place online via Zoom.
Chairman of the Yabloko party and environmentalist Nikolai Rybakov, as well as Chair of Yabloko’s Green Russia faction Olga Tsepilova will open the conference.
Alexei Arbatov, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, head of the Centre for International Security at the Institute of World Economy and International Relations (IMEMO) of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and a member of the Federal Political Committee of the Yabloko party, will speak about “nuclear risks in the world”.
Andrei Talevlin, Associate Professor at Chelyabinsk State University, Coordinator of the Programme Against Nuclear and Radiation Threats of the Russian Social-Ecological Union and a member of the Bureau of the Green Russia faction of the Yabloko party, will make a report “Climate Change and Nuclear Energy”.
Andrei Ozharovsky, engineer-physicist and expert of the public programme “Safety of Radioactive Waste”, will speak on the topic “Radiation Pollution on the Territory of Russia: Experience in Conducting Public Environmental Inspections”.
After the speakers’ presentations, everyone can ask questions to the speakers and take part in the discussion.
