YABLOKO to conduct an action called “Teach the officials to run a university”

On September 1, the Sverdlovsk branch of YABLOKO will conduct an action called “Teach the officials to run a university” near University building.
The residents of Yekaterinburg, the Sverdlovsk Region, will be able to make proposals which will be initiated both on the regional and federal levels.
YABLOKO is the only political party which gained support of the Russian Academy of Sciences on the federal level.
“The situation with higher education, university activities and science is close to a catastrophe. Officials consider education as another item of expenditure that can be cut, rationalized and even canceled in some cases. As part of the destructive rationalizing programme, officials merge universities and its departments without taking into consideration the damage it will bring to the team of teachers, research, scientific work and the quality of higher education, of course. We plan to conduct this action to highlight the problems of science and higher education.”
