Representatives of Yabloko handed over to the St. Petersburg Electoral Commission a set of documents required to certify the list of Yabloko candidates for deputies to the St.Petersburg Legislative Assembly.

When submitting documents to the St.Petersburg Electoral Commission, the top candidates of the party list were present: Boris Vishnevsky, Deputy Chairman of Yabloko and head of the party faction in the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg, Alexander Shishlov, Ombudsman in St. Petersburg, Olga Shtannikova, head of the Ombudsman’s Office and member of the Yabloko Arbitration, and ex-head of the St.Petersburg municipal district Grazhdanka, Olga Pokrovskaya, member of the St.Peterburg Electoral Commission from Yabloko and Chair of the Party Arbitration, as well as members of the Party’s Federal Bureau Anatoly Golov and Olga Tsepilova.

“Our candidates are young – the average age of those nominated in districts and territorial groups is 38 years. There are 23 municipal deputies, economists, lawyers, human rights activists, acsademics, engineers, doctors, managers, city activists and entrepreneurs,” Boris Vishnevsky, leader of the Yabloko list, said.

“Either with Yabloko to the future or with everyone else to the past. We believe in victory,” he emphasised.

On 4 July, the Yabloko party congress nominated 50 candidates for the St. Petersburg Legislative Assembly in 25 regional groups and 25 single-mandate constituencies.

Elections to the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg will be held on September 19 on the same day as the elections to the State Duma. Petersburgers will have to elect 50 deputies of the city parliament (25 by party lists and 25 in single-mandate constituencies).

Now the St. Petersburg Electoral Commission will have to make a decision on the certification of the Yabloko list.
