YABLOKO reminded voters about the importance of participation in elections
Press release, 18.05.2016
On 18 May, four months before the elections to the State Duma, YABLOKO activists conducted campaigning street actions to remind the voters about the importance of participation in elections. The action took place in more than 20 cities of Russia.
Moscow YABLOKO activists claim that such actions will increase the voters turnout at the elections.
“The country is in a crisis which covers economics, governance and foreign policy. The only peaceful way out is mass voters turnout on 18 September and voting for an alternative to the incumbent authorities who have lead Russia into a dead end,” the activists of the Tula branch of YABLOKO said.
“Our street action is popular with the citizens: it coincided with the increase of public transport fare which shows that the authorities are unable to solve economic problems effectively,” the activist of the Khabarovsk branch of YABLOKO commented.
“Your choice on 18 September matters. On this day we will decided Russia’s future way. And this choice depends on you,” said the leaflets handed out by the activists of the Vladivostok branch of YABLOKO.
“The ruling United Russia party is interested in lowering the turnout. It is easier to manipulate the results of the voting,” YABLOKO members in Ryazan claim.
The street actions took place in:
Yoshkar-Ola
Kurgan
Novosibirsk
Nizhny Novgorod
Cheboksary
Omsk
The elections to the State Duma of the VII convocation will take place on 18 September, 2016. YABLOKO candidates’ list will be announced during the summer party Congress.
