YABLOKO Closes Accreditation to Election Congress
Press release, 23.06.2016
The YABLOKO party is going to hold its election congress in Moscow from July 1 to July 3. It will be the longest congress held among all the political parties that are planning to participate in the parliamentary elections. The delegates of the congress will discuss and adopt the electoral programme, they will also nominate the list of candidates for deputies and candidates in single-mandate constituencies. This will give an official start to the 2016 parliamentary campaign.
For the first two days the congress will be held in Novaya Moskva (or “New Moscow,” situated to the south-west of the capital). It is expected that the delegates will discuss and approve the electoral programme on July 1. For the first time in the history of Russia any person could make proposals for the electoral programme by sending them to YABLOKO’s Programme Committee via a special section at the party website. The programme draft was published at the YABLOKO’s internal resource for the party members to rework it two weeks before the congress.
The second day of the congress (July 2) will be dedicated to the discussion of the candidates’ list and the candidates in single-mandate constituencies. The delegates are going to consider both the federal part of the list and the regional groups – their territorial structure and personal composition. Voting will take place after the discussion.
The final day of the congress (July 3) will take place at the International Trade Centre, Moscow. The meeting starts at 12:00 p.m. with the announcement of the voting results on the federal list of candidates. Later the election campaign leaders will present the main ideas of YABLOKO’s electoral programme at the forthcoming elections to the delegates and guests of the congress.
