Yabloko leader on the arrest of Kirill Bobro
Emilia Slabunova’s Facebook post, 21.03.2017
The court arrested Kirill Bobro, an activist of the Stavropol branch of Yabloko Youth, for two months. He is a young, active, talented, promising man… [He is persecuted] because he had an opinion of his own and expressed it openly, he held protest actions against corruption and actions to commemorate Boris Nemtsov, picketed the regional office of the Federal Security Service demanding to stop the persecution of political activists in Stavropol.
Kirill was arrested despite the fact that he has a little child, despite the absurdity of the charges, despite the statement by the Yabloko’s Federal Council calling to immediately stop the persecution of political activists and despite the arrival of Nikolai Rybakov, Yabloko Deputy Chairman, to the court session.
I am convinced that the case is politically motivated and the substances which were found in Kirill’s flat were planted there. It is obvious that during an hour and a half when the law enforcement were trying to get inside the flat, Kirill could get rid of any banned substances. In this connection, I think that the officers who searched Kirill’s flat must undergo a polygraph test.
I suppose that the law enforcement representatives who summoned Bobro for “conversations” [threatening to fabricate a criminal case against him and send him “behind bars”, if Bobro and Yabloko youth did not stop their political activity in the region] and put pressure on his relatives are actually removing an opponent of the current authorities.
Such activity of the authorities is very familiar to me: my colleagues in Karelia were accused and are persecuted under faked-up cases the same way. Unfortunately, filing criminal cases against innocent people is becoming common practice.
The party will do all it its power to help Kirill Bobro.
