The Regional Council of the Moscow branch of Yabloko approved the 2022 municipal campaign strategy and the headquarters structure.
The Moscow branch of Yabloko considers the election of a sufficient number of municipal deputies to be the main goal of the upcoming elections, which would allow Yabloko to nominate a candidate for Moscow Mayor. It is necessary to create a single Moscow Deputies Corps of Yabloko, i.e., a network of deputies who identify themselves with the values of the party, effectively interact with each other and influence the city authorities.
The Regional Council also decided on the structure of the headquarters. The 2022 municipal campaign will be led by Maxim Kruglov, head of the Yabloko faction in the Moscow City Duma, and Sergei Mitrokhin, a Moscow City Duma deputy and a member of the Yabloko Political Committee.
“Considering that the local government system is about to be destroyed due to a new bill that the State Duma is about to adopt, our key task is to reform the government system in Moscow. It is necessary to significantly broaden the powers of municipalities and increase the importance of local self-government in urban politics,” Sergei Mitrokhin said.
According to Maxim Kruglov, the task of the party in these elections is not only to elect a sufficient number of municipal deputies from Yabloko who will change life in their districts. “We want to create a strong deputy corps of the Yabloko party at the municipal and city levels in Moscow in order to have a significant opportunity to influence the Moscow authorities, change their policy, and offer Muscovites their candidate for the post of the Moscow Mayor. It will be a network of deputies who share the values of the party and effectively interact with each other, changing the city’s politics,” Maxim Kruglov noted.
The strategic management of the municipal campaign will be carried out by the Council of Coordinators, which includes Sergei Ivanenko, Chairman of the Moscow branch of Yabloko, Kirill Goncharov, Deputy Chairman of the Moscow Yabloko, Andrei Morev, Deputy Chairman of the Moscow Yabloko and Chairman of the Council of Deputies of the Yakimanka district in Moscow, Irina Kopkina, head of the Yabloko Centre for Work with Deputies, Galina Mikhaleva, Chair of Yabloko Gender Faction, and Vladimir Ryzhkov, a Moscow City Duma deputy.
Soon Yabloko will open an election campaign website, where candidates will register and which will become an information platform for the election campaign.
