Yabloko in the Altai Republic rallied against the “reset” of Vladimir Putin’s presidential term

On March 15, a rally against amendments to the Constitution of the Russian Federation was held in Gorno-Altaysk. The actions was organised by Maria Demina, MP of the State Assembly – El Kurultai of the Altai Republic and the head of the Defend Altai public movement. The event was supported by representatives of Yabloko, the Communist Party, and regional public organisations.
Nina Dumnova, Chair of the regional branch of the Yabloko party in the Altai Republic, spoke at the rally.
The rally participants spoke about Putin’s amendments to the Constitution of Russia, negligent work of local authorities, impoverishment of the residents of the region, as well as destruction of the nature protection zone on the territory of nature monuments, in particular, the Karakol lakes. Collection of signatures in defense of the lakes was also organised at the rally.
The rally participants adopted a resolution in which they decided:
- Demand from Russian President Vladimir Putin:
Stop political gambling in order to resolve the issue of his eternal power, show respect for the people and the Constitution of Russia, stop changing the Constitution for the sake of personal interests;
To supply gas and other fuel for public utilities free of charge, we are not obliged to pay for our property, since oil and gas are the property of the people of Russia.
- Demand from the head and government of the Altai Republic:
A real increase of wages to employees of the public sector: specialists in the field of medicine, education, culture and other public sector employees, immediate resolution of the issue of increasing child allowances, increasing payments for the maintenance of children in foster families;
Check the lawfulness of the decisions on reduction of the area of natural monuments, primarily the Karakol Lakes and bring them to their original state;
Stop exerting political pressure on citizens and local self-government bodies in order to prevent changes in the way the heads of districts are formed;
To dismiss two heads of municipalities: Olga Safronova, head of the Gorno-Altaisk municipality, and Roman Ptitsyn, head of the Maiminsky District municipality.
Send the resolution to the President of the Russian Federation, the head of the Altai Republic, the Prime Minister of the Altai Republic, and the media.
The rally also adopted an address to the Constitutional Court of Russia on the inadmissibility of a positive opinion on the Federal Law “On Amendment to the Constitution of the Russian Federation”.
At the rally attended by 243 people, the resolution was adopted unanimously.
It should be noted On March 12, Yabloko held an all-Russian action against Putin’s usurpation of power. In over 50 regions, party activists picketed their legislative assemblies, which were considering Vladimir Putin’s amendments to the Constitution.
