In the current conditions, the key political demand, the goal and the objective of the party is achieving of the signing of a ceasefire agreement between Russia and Ukraine. A separate statement of the Political Committee is dedicated to this demand. It is addressed to politicians who adopt the key decisions, primarily Vladimir Putin, as well as political leaders in Kyiv, Washington and Brussels. The Political Committee decision specifies the party’s proposals for concluding and implementing a ceasefire agreement.
According to the Political Committee, the growing escalation of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, in particular the exchange of missile strikes, is bringing the possible start of World War III closer. In its statement “Stop sliding into world war!” Yabloko appeals to all participants of the UN, OSCE, G7, BRICS, G20, and other international organisations and associations to recognise their responsibility for the future and return, through difficult negotiations, to the observance of common approaches without which Europe and the world will sooner or later perish in the fire of war.
Two other Political Committee decisions are devoted to the principles of organising the substantive work of the party in the new conditions and its key political positions.
Yabloko does not intend to abolish participation in elections, emphasising the importance of election campaigning under the slogan “For Peace and Freedom”. The party intends to resist propaganda and obscurantism, engage in public awareness campaigns, become a centre of intellectual activity, promote the formation of a new political elite and provide citizens with opportunities for definite actions.
“The main medium-term political task of the party is not just to wait out difficult times and survive, but to formulate new ideas and political meanings for the future. It is necessary to form an agenda for the future policy based on an appeal to PEOPLE, protection of their lives, rights, freedoms, dignity and interests, their personal creative development, and the development of their personal abilities,” the decision of the Political Committee runs.
