The fourth interregional seminar with regional branches of the Yabloko party took place in Sochi on March 20 – 21. Party leader Nikolai Rybakov and Deputy Chairman Ivan Bolshakov discussed with the participants of the seminar the preparations for the State Duma elections, as well as the party’s coalition policy.

In total, representatives of Yabloko regional branches from 15 regions took part in the seminar: the Murmansk, Oryol, Smolensk, Moscow, Vladimir, Astrakhan, Bryansk, Kursk, and Leningrad regions, the Karachay-Cherkess Republic, the Kabardino-Balkar Republic, the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania, the Republic of Chechnya , the Republic of Dagestan, and the Republic of Adygea.

As part of the trip, Nikolai Rybakov met with the heads of the departments of the Sochi administration responsible for urban management and environmental protection, forest and parks, agriculture and industry. Rybakov discussed with the administration of the city environmental problems, raised the topic of inadmissibility of building an incineration plant and development of the Sochi national park under construction.

After the meeting with the Sochi administration, the Yabloko delegation visited the Bytkha district in Sochi to discuss the problem of the risks of developing the district with local residents. Due to the development of the mountain, a powerful landslide came down from the slope in February. People fear that with continued construction works, a landslide may already descend on the houses of residents of the district.

“It should be admitted that the green area on the slope, where peach, pear and apricot trees grew, have been destroyed. But we will try to help people so that the developer provides normal life for the district. There should be no such barbarism when, for the sake of construction of new sky-scrapers, all living things are destroyed, cut down, trampled down, and people’s lives become like exile,” Rybakov noted.

The Yabloko Chairman also met with journalists, visited the Sochi dendrological park and met with party members from Sochi, Tuapse, Yeisk and Gelendzhik. Before leaving Sochi, Rybakov and members of the party from the regions cleaned the Black Sea coast of plastic, which was thrown ashore by the waves.

It should be noted that the previous interregional seminars were held in Kazan (February 20 – 21), Yekaterinburg (March 6 – 7) and Krasnoyarsk (March 12 – 13).
