Press Release, 29.06.2018
The Regional Council of the Sverdlovsk branch of Yabloko nominated a list of candidates of a united democratic coalition to run in the elections to the Yekaterinburg city parliament (City Duma). The list contains 57 candidates, this is the maximum possible number of people in the list. The meeting of the Regional Council was attended by Ilya Zakharov, head of the city electoral commission. According to Maxim Petlin, member of the Bureau of Yabloko, there should not be any problems with registration of the list of candidates.
The top three candidates on the list were determined during the recent public debate between Yabloko and the party’s allies in the democratic coalition. They are Konstantin Kiselyov, acting deputy of the City Duma, Dmitry Golovin, another City Duma deputy, and Irina Skachkova, deputy head of the regional branch of Yabloko and human rights activist.
The list also includes representatives of a number of public organisations and parties: Dmitry Okatyev (Yabloko), Dmitry Tryinov (trade union Universities’ Solidarity), Sergei Loskutov (the Green Front environmental movement), Mikhail Komlev (civic activist), Yelena Pariy ( Yabloko), Anna Pastukhova (the Yekaterinburg branch of the Memorial society), Galina Bastrygina (PARNAS), Marat Davletshin (Yabloko), Yuri Lesnikov (civic activist) and others.
“Most of all I am happy that in our case we manage to find compromises, smooth over the differences, and move toward sour goal without hysterics or scandals,” Yabloko’s Maxim Petlin wrote on his Facebook page. “And this is what I consider our biggest achievement so far, I hope that no matter what results we het, our Yekaterinburg experience will be useful to the whole country.”
Petlin also announced the nomination of candidates from Yabloko in single-mandate constituencies.
