Valery Kostenok pleaded not guilty of “mass-scale riots”

Yabloko’s Valery Kostenok is charged with “mass-scale riots” (Article 212 Part 2 of the Criminal Code). Tomorrow, on 12 August 12 the Basmanny Court will determine a preventive measure for him. Kostenok will spend this night in the detention center.
The media reports that Kostenok allegedly pleaded guilty to participating in the riots do not correspond to reality.
Yabloko Deputy Chairman Nikolai Rybakov expressed confidence in Kostenok’s innocence and urged party supporters to come to the Basmanny court tomorrow to support Valery.
In the afternoon a search was held in Valery Kostenok’s apartment. Investigators did not wait for the arrival of the lawyer and opened the door of the apartment. After the search, Kostenok was taken for questioning to the Moscow department of the Investigative Committee.
Valery Kostenok is 20 years old. He has been Yabloko member since 2017. Kostenok was a volunteer in the headquarters of Kirill Goncharov, unregistered Yabloko candidate for the Moscow City Duma elections.
