Urgent and broad amnesty is needed to prevent a humanitarian catastrophe
Statement by the Yabloko Bureau, 3.04.2020
The Yabloko party believes that in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic urgent measures must be taken to prevent a humanitarian catastrophe in places of custodial restraint, and demands to conduct an urgent and broadest amnesty.
The Yabloko party insists that an amnesty be declared, including with respect to all those detained in Russian prisons and pre-trial detention centres whom the Russian authorities are persecuting for political and religious reasons.
The Yabloko party demands from the Federal Penitentiary Service to comply with sanitary and epidemiological safety requirements when releasing people and their fastest transit to the places of their permanent residence.
