Press release, 08.08.2016
The Truck Drivers Association called YABLOKO to abolish the laws hampering the development of traffic network and motor freight transportation in case the party enters the parliament. At a round table party Chair Emilia Slabunova said that YABLOKO would support the interests of truck drivers. She also said that the party electoral programme contained a chapter on “The social and transport infrastructure” developed by the party experts and the representatives of the Truck Drivers Association.
“The stretch of roads in Russia is five times less than in the US. Not to mention the quality. But there is a solution. There is a political force which is ready to listen to the experts. The YABLOKO party, thousands of our candidates devote their attention to the transportation problems,” YABLOKO Chair noted.
Moscow YABLOKO deputy Chair, Ivan Bolshakov, named three large blocks, which provided the basis for the party’s stance on the issue. They include the proposals on the establishment of an area with special economic conditions, including the territory of the federal roads and roadside areas, creation of the Federal Road Fund and prohibition of public-private partnership in the field of tax collection by the example of the Platon system [a controversial federal levy on 12-ton trucks which resulted into protests of the truck drivers around the country].
