The YABLOKO faction in St.Petersburg Legislative Assembly voted against closure of independent television channel Dozhd
Press Release, January 29, 2014
St.Petersburg Legislative Assembly applied Yury Chaika, Public Prosecutor General, asking him to close Dozhd independent television channel due its allegedly “insulting” and “provocative” broadcasts.
The YABLOKO faction voted against this decision of the Legislative Assembly noting that it resembled a denunciation.
The Legislative Assembly of St.Petersburg applied to Public Prosecutor General after a poll conducted by Dozhd where they asked whether Leningrad (now St Petersburg) should have been surrendered to the Nazis in order to save hundreds of thousands of people who died during the Siege of Leningrad.
