The Tatarstan branch of Yabloko and the Association of Tatarstan Observers signed a memorandum on the creation of a joint regional headquarters of election observers during the Forum of Kazan Opposition Forces, which took place in Kazan on 24 April. They plan to monitor all the 2021 election campaigns. The founders of the headquarters plan to cover the maximum number of polling stations with observers.
“After the signing of this document, the participants merge the regional observers databases of the Yabloko party and the Association of Tatarstan Observers into a single database. The goal of cooperation is the maximum coverage by the headquarters of all the polling stations of the Republic of Tatarstan with observers, building of a structure that would be parallel to the electoral system and include electoral commissions of all levels in the Republic of Tatarstan,” the text of the memorandum runs.
The headquarters plans to organise a large-scale campaign to attract observers through social networks and the media. They plan to create an “attractive image of an observer” by telling stories of successful observation of elections at certain polling stations and certain regional elections.
It is planned to launch observers trainings from May 2021. For this, the headquarters plans to develop special methodologies and programmes. According to the headquarters, a month before the single voting day they will hold a regional forum of observers.
