On 30 July, the St. Petersburg Electoral Commission voted unanimously for registration of the Yabloko list of candidates for the election to the Legislative Assembly of St.Petersburg. The list consists of 46 candidates.

The election campaign is entering an active phase. Now Yabloko candidates can start campaigning.  The leaders of the Yabloko list commented on the decision of the electoral commission:

“Today we have passed through another stage. The entire list of candidates gets the status of nominated candidates. We are beginning to campaign and explain our position [to voters], so that people who come to the polls understand that they have the opportunity to vote for an alternative. Today Yabloko is the only party that offers an alternative to the current policies. An alternative aimed at protecting human dignity, human rights and the rule of law in our country. We will campaign in the media: there will be publications, free and paid broadcasts. We hope that the epidemic will begin to recede and we will be able to campaign in the streets,” Alexander Shishlov, one of the leaders of the list, commented on the decision of the electoral commission.

“At the same time, the process of registration of our candidates in single-mandate constituencies is under way. Some of the candidates have already been registered. Others are waiting for a decision on registration, which should be made no later than 5 August,“ Boris Vishnevsky, the head of the Yabloko faction in the Legislative Assembly and Deputy Chairman of the party, added.

“All the candidates from our list are going to win,” Olga Shtannikova, one of the leaders of the list of Yabloko candidates, said.

It should be noted that on 4 July, the Yabloko congress nominated candidates for the St. Petersburg parliament: 46 Yabloko candidates from the regional list and 25 candidates in single-mandate constituencies will take part in the elections. The documents were submitted to the St. Petersburg Electoral Commission on 22 July.
