The Nizhny Novgorod branch of Yabloko demanded resignation of the head of the regional Ministry of Healthcare
Press Release, 20.05.2020
The Nizhny Novgorod branch of the Yabloko party appealed to Gleb Nikitin, Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, with a demand to dismiss David Melik-Guseynov, Deputy Governor and Minister of Healthcare of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
Earlier, the Minister published a post on his social networks criticising doctors of the Sormovskaya emergency medical station, who were outraged by the government’s failure to fulfill promises on additional payments to medical workers. The Minister of Healthcare called them provocateurs, intimidated them and threatened medical personnel with police.
“The actions of the employees of the emergency medical station were directly caused by the failure of the authorities to fulfill their promises. Responsibility for the situation lies, among others, on Melik-Guseynov. However, instead of meeting the citizens and answering their questions, Melik-Guseynov assailed medical workers with strikingly cynical criticism and began to intimidate them with an aggressive demand for a police investigation of their actions,” runs the address of the Nizhny Novgorod branch of Yabloko to the Governor.
“We believe that a person who treats citizens in this way does not have the right to be maintained by these citizens [through their taxes] and should be dismissed from public service. We are asking you to take this appeal into consideration and make a public decision on it,” Oleg Rodin, Chairman of the party’s regional branch, commented on the situation.
