The Nizhny Novgorod branch of Yabloko calls the regional authorities to support the regional ground electric transport companies
Press Release, 26.05.2020
Oleg Rodin, Chairman of the Nizhny Novgorod branch of the Yabloko party, appealed to Gleb Nikitin, Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region, with a demand to include the MP Nizhegorodelectrotrans and MUP Express in Dzerzhinsk companies into the list of enterprises affected by the coronavirus pandemic that should receive aid from the government.
“In the pandemic, ground-based electric transport companies lost about 80% of their passenger traffic. By the decree of the Governor, gratuitous and reduced cost travel cards were canceled, and restrictions on the movement of citizens were introduced. According to the decree of the Government of the Russian Federation, the list of the sectors most affected by the coronavirus infection includes the land passenger transport. In this regard, we are asking you that these enterprises be included into the regional support programme. The cost of electricity and the wages of workers need to be compensated for these enterprises,” Oleg Rodin stressed.
It should be noted that Yabloko forwarded to the President, government and parliament a package of its proposals with urgent measures to support people, workers and private businesses in the context of the coronavirus pandemic. The party also calls on the President and government to expand the list of supported NGOs.
In addition, the party Chairman Nikolai Rybakov sent letters to the Governors of more than 20 Russian regions urging them to redirect funds allocated for campaigning for amendments to the Constitution to fight against coronavirus.
