The hearings went without us, but we marched through Moscow chanting “Sobyanin to dismissal!”
Press release, 06.06.2017
Yabloko Chair Emilia Slabunova, leader of the Moscow branch of the party Sergei Mitrokhin and municipal deputy of Moscow Elena Rusakova were not allowed to participate in the parliamentary hearings on the renovation of Moscow housing, as the State Duma was frightened of unenviable uncomfortable questions the deputies had to face.
Sergei Mitrokhin, leader of the Moscow branch of Yabloko and member of Yabloko Federal Political Council, commented on the refusal of the State Duma to let Yabloko representatives to the paliamentary hearings on the notorious government’s “housing renovation” bill envisaging resettlement of 1.6 million Muscovites (often without their consent) from their flats in the “old” five-storey blocks of flats: The hearings went without us, but we marched through Moscow chanting “Sobyanin [the Moscow Mayor] to dismissal!” I am urging all who are against the insanity of the “renovation” not to stop. Now we should come to the State Duma on 9 June at 9:00, when deputies are going there and demand from them to dismiss the bill in the second reading.”
