The Electoral Commission of the Ivanovo Region did not include Yabloko members into territorial electoral commissions
Press Release, 5.11.2020
On 2 November, the Ivanovo region formed new territorial electoral commissions. However, none of the candidates proposed by the regional branch of the Yabloko party as electoral commissions members were approved.
The Ivanovo branch of Yabloko notes that this decision demonstrates the attitude of the regional authorities to the real opposition.
“Electoral commissions, as before, are mainly composed of representatives of fake parties that have neither any political weight in the region, nor even an organizational structure. The novelty of this season was the inclusion in the commissions of not only delegates from the Greens and the Party of Pensioners for Social Justice, that exist only on paper and in the Department of Internal Policy, but also from the Party of Growth,” Andrei Avtoneyev, Chairman of the Ivanovo branch of Yabloko, noted.
He also added that despite the fact that Yabloko delegated to the electoral commission people who had real experience of participation in election campaigns, the regional electoral commission did not approve any of the proposed candidates. This, according to Andrei Avtoneyev, once again confirmed that the authorities are afraid of Yabloko in the Ivanovo region, and the Electoral Commission of the Ivanovo Region did not aim at conducting fair and competitive elections in the region.
It should be noted that the Ivanovo regional branch of the Yabloko party delegated its representatives to the territorial electoral commissions of the Leninsky, Frunzensky and Oktyabrsky districts of the city of Ivanovo, and territorial electoral commissions of the cities of Shuya and Vichuga, as well as to the territorial electoral commissions of the Ivanovsky district.
