On April 22, the Vladikavkaz Court declared unlawful the refusal of the Ministry of Justice Department in North Ossetia-Alania Republic to register the regional branch of the YABLOKO party in the Republic.
“The refusal of the Ministry of Justice Department in North Ossetia-Alania Republic to register the regional branch of the YABLOKO party should be recognised unlawful and cancelled,” runs the decisions of the court.
The court also ordered the Ministry of Justice of the Republic to register a YABLOKO’s regional branch and pass all the documents required for registration to the fiscal authority.
“It is for the first time that we have managed to get justice in a North Ossetia court. Despite the obvious pressure from the Ministry of Justice and the government of the Republic, the judge issued a lawful decision,” said Alexei Syuzyumov, YABLOKO’s lawyer.
The North Ossetian Department of the Ministry of Justice denied YABLOKO registration of its the regional branch in North Ossetia in November 2012. YABLOKO filed a lawsuit against the unlawful decision. However, two judges were replace in the case, and only the third judge made the final ruling on registration of YABLOKO’s branch.
YABLOKO’s opponents will file an appeal with the Supreme Court of the Republic. In August 2010, the Supreme Court of the Republic of North Ossetia ruled out that YABLOKO’s regional branch in the Republic had to be liquidated. Then YABLOKO failed to defend its regional branch.
