On 26 May, the Chelyabinsk branch of Yabloko summed up the results of the primaries. The winners of the primaries will be recommended by the regional branch to the Yabloko party Congress for nomination as parliamentary candidates from Yabloko in single-mandate constituencies in the Chelyabinsk region.

The voting results are as follows:

1) In Chelyabinsk District No. 189, the winner was Yaroslav Shcherbakov, Chairman of the Chelyabinsk regional branch of the Yabloko party and head of the Anti-Corruption Policy Centre, who received 89% of the votes. Sergei Shichkov, the head of the department of environment, improvement, transport and communications of the administration of the city of Troitsk, came second with 11% of the votes.

2) Andrei Talevlin, an environmentalist, Candidate of Sciences and a member of the Federal Bureau of the Yabloko party, won 89% of the votes in Metallurgical District No. 190. Anton Serichenko, public activist and metallurgist, was second with 11% of the votes.

3) Natalya Tavrina, a doctor inf the Chelyabinsk City Hospital No. 1, won in Korkinsky District No. 191, gaining 51% of the votes. The second place with 26% of the votes belongs to the lawyer Nikolai Koshman. Alexander Feduleyev, ex-deputy of the Korkinsky City Council, came third.

4) In the Magnitogorsk District, the winner was Nikolai Shulyak, the ex-head of the Pravoberezhny District of Magnitogorsk and the Deputy Mayor for Social Affairs, who received 57% of the vote. His competitor was Sergei Faryma, the Chairman of the housing cooperative, who received 43% of the votes.

5) In the Zlatoust district, Valentina Komkova, the Сhair of the Miass branch of the Yabloko party, became the winner, receiving 52% of the votes. The second place with 26% of the votes belongs to the paramedic of the ambulance Larisa Nakoskina. Sergei Kostromin, editor of the Zlatoust newspaper and ex-deputy of the Zlatoust City Council, came third.

“Each of the registered candidates presented their alternative programme and a work plan as a deputy, without lies and populism, and everyone would be able to compete with dignity for victory and receive support from voters. This was a difficult choice. However, each of the candidates for the primaries declared their readiness to work within the framework of one team, regardless of their place, and to help implement their proposals,” the Chairman of the Chelyabinsk branch of Yabloko said.

“We got new ideas, proposals, faces, and most importantly – a formed team. This is what was achieved thanks to the primaries in the Chelyabinsk region. There is a lot of joint work ahead, and the result of the elections of the State Duma deputies on 19 September, 2021, should give an objective assessment to this work,” Yaroslav Shcherbakov emphasised.

It should be noted that the organisational committee of the Chelyabinsk branch of Yabloko registered 12 out of 15 candidates for the State Duma deputies in five single-mandate districts of the Chelyabinsk region for participation in the primaries. Both members and supporters of the Yabloko party could vote and take part as a candidate for the primaries. The debate of the candidates and voting started on 22 May.
