Press Release, 19.08.2020
On Saturday, August 22, activists and leaders of the Moscow branch of Yabloko will lay flowers at the monument to the defenders of the democratic Russia during the failed coup d’etat of August 19-21, 1991. The action will start at 14:00. Yabloko activists will honour the memory of the heroes of the new democratic Russia – Dmitry Komar, Ilya Krichevsky and Vladimir Usov, killed during the coup.
“Unfortunately, the demands that were urgent in 1991, are urgent today. Today we also demand freedom for our country and want to see it democratic. We remember the feat of our compatriots, we remember why they gave their lives and what for. We will come to honour their memory, as we do every year,” Kirill Goncharov, the organiser of the action and Deputy Chairman of the Moscow branch of Yabloko, says.
