Territorial Electoral Commission No.30 of St.Petersburg refused to register Boris Vishnevsky, Yabloko Deputy Chairman and head of the Yabloko faction in the St.Petersburg Legislative Assembly, for the election to the St.Petersburg Legislative Assembly in a single-mandate constituency

The Territorial Electoral Commission believes that Vishnevsky presented an “incorrect” document on the decision of the Yabloko Congress on his nomination, as well as an incorrect document on the approval of his candidacy drawn by the Federal Political Committee of the Yabloko party.

The Territorial Electoral Commission refers to Article 32 of the St. Petersburg law on elections to the Legislative Assembly. However, this law does not establish any requirements for these documents.

Boris Vishnevsky is nominated by Yabloko to run for the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg in single-mandate constituency No. 2 (Central District) as candidates from the regional list of the Yabloko party candidates. The regional list was registered by the St. Petersburg Electoral Commission on 30 July. There were no questions to the documents submitted by Yabloko.

In addition, Vishnevsky is nominated by Yabloko to run for the State Duma in single-mandate constituency No. 216. The package of documents for nomination to the State Duma was drawn up in the same way as the documents for nomination to the Legislative Assembly. On 2 August, Territorial Electoral Commission No. 16 registered Boris Vishnevsky as a candidate for the State Duma.

Boris Vishnevsky became the fifth Yabloko candidate withdrawn from the elections to the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg.
