Ten years without Anna Politkovskaya

She was braver than one is allowed to be in Russia.
She was more honest than one is allowed to be in Russia.
She was more talented than one is allowed to be in Russia.
She spoke and wrote only what she meant, and it is inadmissible in Russia.
Ten years ago journalist Anna Politkovskaya was murdered.
They killed her because she violated the boundaries of the ruling system.
On that day in October 2006, it became clear that this murder opened a new dark page in the Russian history. Political journalism has been almost completely destroyed for the past decade, the system eventually evolved into a hybrid of Stalinism, our country is drowning in invincible lies that are manifest in the sports, elections, politics, and in the official press. Boris Nemtsov was back shot by the Kremlin walls, Russia has been leading two deadly and senseless hot wars and one cold war. Judging by what has been happening in the country today, there is no doubt that this list will be continued.
But if we understand what Anna Politkovskaya was writing about and remember why and how she was killed, we still have a chance for a different future. Anna has been and remains a symbol of a different Russia.
